There are plenty of better intros to the Lincoln-Douglas debate format, but basically it’s a standardized format where an opinion is stated and then individuals take either an affirmative or negative stance on the issue. The affirmative case starts, the negative questions the affirmative, then gives their case along with arguments against the affirmative.
In the 2024 Lincoln-Douglas debates, the resolution is;
Resolved: If elected, Trump will be a better president than Kamala.
